How does it work?
Nicotinell® Patches give you a steady dose of relief by slowly releasing a consistent amount of nicotine into your bloodstream through a specifically designed patch, over 24 hours. This helps you to discretely keep your cravings in check throughout the day.1
Which nicotine patch suits me?
Nicotinell® Patches come in strengths of 21 mg, 14 mg and 7 mg. Start your road to victory with a strong patch (21 mg or 14 mg depending on how many cigarettes you smoke), and drop down to a weaker patch. Using Nicotinell® with a step-wise approach helps get you to victory.
Step 1
21 mg / 24 hours
If you smoke 20 or more cigarettes per day:
Start with a strong Nicotinell® Patch Step 1 (21 mg) to hit those initial cravings hard. Simply put one on each morning for 3–4 weeks, before moving on to Step 2.
Step 2
14 mg / 24 hours
If you smoke under 20 cigarettes per day:
Stop smoking and start with Nicotinell® Patch Step 2 (14 mg) for 6-8 weeks.
If you are stepping down from Nicotinell® Step 1:
Move to Nicotinell® Patch Step 2 (14 mg) for 3-4 weeks.
Step 3
7 mg / 24 hours
After 6-8 weeks of Nicotinell® Patches, you’re almost there:
You can now wean yourself off nicotine by dropping down to Nicotinell® Patch Step 3 (7 mg).
How do I wear nicotine patches?
Take the patch out of the packet and remove any additional protection from the patch.
Immediately apply the patch to a washed and cleaned area of hairless and dry skin that is free from creams and lotions (including sunscreen or insect repellent). The upper arm, chest, abdomen or hip can be good spots.
Press the patch down firmly for 10–20 seconds with the palm of your hand. Then run your fingers around the edge, pressing firmly so it sticks.
DO NOT: check if it has stuck by lifting the edge as this may make it come loose.
After 24 hours, remove the patch and apply a new one on a new area of skin.
DO NOT: apply a new patch to an area of skin you have previously used for at least 7 days.
